I’m not really one to spend a lot of money on clothes or accessories, and the name of a brand on something doesn’t always lure me in. But when I booked our trip to New York in April, I knew I would be making a visit to the Michael Kors store.
I’ve admired the Michael Kors brand for a while now – I have one of their Pavé Rose Gold-Tone Pendant Necklace which I received from my husband as a thirtieth birthday present and it’s a piece I wear on an almost daily basis – and that’s because the designer is synonymous with glamour and timeless chic, two style descriptions that I try to aspire to.
And I have always admired their handbags – albeit from afar for some time. They have an impressive range of handbags to choose from, from traditional totes to fun cross-bodies in an array of colours and styles, there’s something for everyone in their range.
I wandered around the store in the Rockefeller Centre for a while, pondering the styles and colours on offer and taking advice from the lovely shop assistants, before I decided on a Mercer Tote in Pearl Grey. This is a bag that screams sophistication to me and matches my style perfectly. With carry handles and a interchangeable shoulder strap, three compartments inside (including a zippered section) and crafted from pebbled leather, this is both a beautiful bag and a practical one.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s an investment piece. At £315, it’s not like buying a bag for a quick quid on the high street. But to me, a handbag should be one of those pieces that you put that bit more thought, effort, and money, into investing in. Like a good pair of sunglasses, and the perfect watch.
My final justification? I work hard. And I saved hard to get this. And now I will enjoy wearing this handbag for many years to come.
I will leave you with some more images to drool over…
